This illustration depicts the cleaning up of the Cheat River drainage celebration that happens every Year. It is organized by Friends of the Cheat as a fundraiser.  The cleanup of countless acid mine drainage (the orange color) problems is at the heart of their mission. This was a los a tribute to Keith Pitzer, former director of the organization (Keith and Joan Pitzer, musicians).

Laurel Mountain Coffeehouse Final Show, Saturday, April 11th 8pm

A special collaboration of several artists coming together and playing off one anothers skills for an integrated performance. The goal is to create a place where the audience can experience a variety of creative endeavors at one time.

String Fever will be performing their home spun contemporary Americana styled music while OH artist John K. Victor and PA native, Amanda Lachowski, do interpretive drawings to the music. Their goal is to have two completed art pieces at the end of the evening which will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Part of the proceeds will go to the Arts Council of Preston County. Cash or checks will be accepted for the auctioned items. The Arts Council of Preston County will have pieces from other area artists on display in the lobby area. Memberships to ACPC will also be available.

This piece is an entry in the "Tolerance" exhibit at OUC. Here is the explanation of the illustration.

Garbage in--garbage out. What we say in front of, and teach our children, will be reflected in their actions later on. Children are like sponges. Beauty is only skin deep. Diversity is key to a happy productive and loving life.

This piece is a continuation of the thoughts about a poem that I illustrated for Sensory Serenade at Schlegels Coffee House. I probably have a couple more ideas about the sycamore tree and it's awesome stand of bonelike branches.

Illustrated live at Sensory Serenade. It reflects my take on a poem by Rick Barnes about why fall is my favorite time. The sycamore stands out against its background in the fall when the leaves are missing and Orion is creeping, on his side, over the eastern horizon just after sunset....

One of the illustrations from the Hibernation 2 show with Rick Barnes. This poem illustrated the things one holds close to them, love, recognition, relationships, friends, time, family, money and whatever you want to place in the box...

I did this as a study for the poems I was illustrating at the Hibernation show with Rick Barnes. Below is his Poem.

He buried his love long ago saying, “It has to end here”, and that is exactly where it ended. He lives by the river now. For a man who loves the ocean, he is a long way from home.

Put Your Things Where They Belong

I think this poem by Rick Barnes expresses life and the untidiness of living.. It was the first drawing done at the Hibernation show.

Your things are all scattered
And lay where you left them when everything veered toward wrong.

Your life will stay tattered
Until you have gathered and put your things where they belong.

This is the 3rd live drawing at the Hibernation show with Rick Barnes. I imagined the shell, carrying the sound of the ocean and being hidden away in the memory box, as I interpreted the poem.

He buried his love long ago saying,
“It has to end here”, and that is exactly where it ended.
He lives by the river now.
For a man who loves the ocean, he is a long way from home.

Two days before the Hibernation Show, live art and music and poetry, I did this drawing to time myself and visualize the poem by Rick Barnes. I needed some practice and I was anxious to illustrate the idea. I just couldn't wait.
